The Lord gently and graciously points the prophet to where life is found. Life is found through faith in God. This phrase, “the righteous shall live by faith,” is quoted throughout the New Testament scriptures as well. Those who place their faith in themselves or the powers of the day will be bitterly disappointed. There is only one who is worthy of placing our faith in and a life fueled by faith in Jesus is a life that can withstand.
The themes of doubt and despair find expression in the questions of the prophet Habakkuk. Standing as an advocate between humanity and God, Habakkuk gives voices to some of the questions that we are afraid to even whisper in the dark. But God is not afraid of these questions, He is not afraid of our past, present, or future. Instead, we are encouraged to embrace a hope that is lived in faith in Him.
